jim Ott
Camp Speaker
Jim Ott is a retired school psychologist with 35 years experience working with young people in schools, camps, youth groups, athletics and theater. He has a passion for making scripture come alive through storytelling and illustrations. Jim loves the camp setting as it gives everyone an opportunity to dive deep into the important matters of creativity, identity and purpose. Jim is also a national speaker and consultant for aha! Process, Inc./Bridges Out of Poverty.
Alison English
Camp Director
Alison English has been leading Protostar since its inception in 2013. She is a graduate of Clarke University with a BA in Drama. In addition to ProtoStar Camp she also serves as a director for the Tri-State Homeschool Drama Troupe. She is passionate about empowering the body
of Christ to live more fully out of the freedom and fearlessness Jesus came to give.
Daniel Paczok
Operations
My name is Daniel Paczok. I have been raised in the church and have been a christian since I was five. My camp ministry began at Village Creek Bible Camp and this will be my 10th summer involved at camp in some capacity.
Christian English
Games and Strategy
Christian English is a 27-year-old born in Anchorage, AK. He has a passion for spreading God's perfect love. To this end, he encourages respect, kindness, and empathy in all interactions, particularly when discussing difficult topics. This is his third year at camp and his first leading a focus group. He brings a lifelong love of gaming and strategy to his field, has cashed multiple professional game tournaments, and has been ranked among the top 100 players in several online card game platforms.
Jillian Hunt
Worldbuilding
Jillian Hunt recently graduated from the University of Dubuque with a degree in Secondary English Education. She will be attending Iowa State University in the fall for a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language/Applied Linguistics. Creative Writing has always been one of her passions, and she is excited to share it with others! She has been involved with Protostar since it began 6 years ago - first as a camper, and now for the past few years as a counselor/focus group leader. This year, she will be leading a Creative Writing focus group on Worldbuilding, which will allow aspiring young writers to explore and develop a world of their own creation!
Amanda Garrett
Drama/Dance Choreography
Amanda Garrett is very excited to be serving on Protostar’s leadership team this summer. This is her sixth year participating in Protostar camp and her fourth year serving as a counsellor. Amanda just finished her sophomore year at Emmaus Bible College studying Elementary Education. Some things outside of Protostar that she loves are coffee, books, animals, kids, dancing, singing, and a myriad of others. Amanda is so thankful to be a part of such a fantastic team and can’t wait to see what God has in store for this summer!
